Join the 2009 OLE Assembly in Kathmandu Nov 1-7
Friday, September 4th, 2009Registration is now open for the 2009 OLE Assembly which will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from November 1 through 7. Show your interest in attending by going to network.ole.org/register. We will then send you more information about the Assembly. Limited financial assistance is available for parties with a special interest in OLE’s mission.
The Assembly will bring together the leaders of each of the OLE Centers with OLE Partners and Investors to:
- share their strategies, accomplishments and challenges for achieving Quality Universal Basic Education by 2015 in their countries,
- help each other in the development of specific country-based proposals and
- give specific direction to OLE International concerning its priorities and programs.
The week-long Assembly will include keynote presentations from leaders in international development and education, presentations by each OLE Center, workshops on the OLE Library, Network and Guide web-based systems, collaborative development of proposals. In addition there will be opportunities to visit some of the cultural and historic sites of Kathmandu, enjoy delicious local food and participate in music and dancing.
Two additional post-Assembly optional activities will be available for those who want them.
- School visits. Some have indicated an interest in spending more time visiting schools and learning more about the ways OLE Nepal is working with the the Nepalese school system.
- Himalayan trek. Some have indicated an interest in trekking in the Himalayas while they are there. A two-day and six-day treks are being planned to begin Saturday afternoon the 7th.
The Registration form provides an opportunity for you to indicate your interest in one or both of these additional activities. We will make plans for these according to the level of interest expressed in them.

If you are interested in joining the Assembly you can Register online. For those of you coming from North America, we are arranging group rates in order to reduce the cost. We estimate the in-country costs in Nepal, not including the costs of the trek, will be no more than $600 for the six days.
